The A's defeated the Power 100-112 in live NBL action Saturday night at the Powerade Centre, Cavel Johnson (25), TyShwan Edmonson (20), Anthony Harris (21),and Akeem Scott (11) all added numbers in the double-digits for the A's.
The A's started off on a rough note with the Power leading 7-0, however, they came back around the bend and were up 9-8 with Cavell Johson's 3-pointer with 7:54 to go in the first. The A's finished out the first quarter of play leading 24-22.
The A's kept the momentum going in the second quarter and by the 7:34 mark had a seven point lead and increased it to ten with a 3-pointer, finishing out the half, 54-44 over the Power.
The Power came out strong in the third and gave the A's a run for their money, the A's became stagnated on the offense with little to no ball movement, allowing the Power to make a comeback.
The A's shook things off and slowed the Power down and by the end of the third had their lead back and were up by 16 points, 64-80. Cavell Johnson led the A's at the half with 15 points.
The fourth quarter saw some tight playing as the score came closer together and down to single digits. The A's managed to hold on and get their second win and first win of the season over the Power.
Omar Strong led the Power in points with 27 on the night, and racking up another 6, 3-pointers. Travis Releford netted 18 baskets, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals.
The A's improve to 2-5 on the season, while the Power slip to 4-3.
The A's next game is Sunday, November 30th against the London Lightning. Tip-off time is 7 pm. at the Powerade Centre.
The Mississauga Power go on a lengthy vacation as the don't play again until Sunday, December 7th against the Windsor Express. Tip-off time is 2 p.m. at the Hershey Centre.
