It's the battle of second vs. third, as the Halifax Rainmen travel to Saint John's to take on the Mill Rats for the second time this season.
Halifax Rainmen vs, Saint John Mill Rats
The Halifax Rainmen (4-5) pushed into second place and bumped the Mill Rats(3-3) back to third after double losses last weekend, both teams suffered a defeat by the Island Storm on consecutive nights. The Storm beat the Rainmen 93-109 and followed a second win at home against the Mill Rats, who played with an eight-man roster, 107-104.
Both teams have gone through transaction changes since last week's losses. The Rainmen have released Mike Martin and signed Kevin Young and Joel Gabriel Munoz Castillo, pending FIBAThe Mill Rats suspended point guard Aquille Clearance. Carr on November 30th for conduct harmful to the team, however, the suspension didn't last long as it was only a day later when the management and head coach lifted the said suspension and reinstated Carr on a "zero-tolerance basis going forward."
This Thursdays game will be intense, as the two teams battle it out in Atlantic Division rivalry, one team trying to push into second, while the other needs to win and hold their ground. The Rainmen will need to power up the defence, play cohesive, and shoot consistently from the floor. Last match up between these two teams, the Rainmen shot 35% from the floor compared to the Mill Rats 55.2% with the Rainmen losing the first game played against the Mill Rats back on November 16th at the Scotiabank Centre, 95-110. Home court advantage didn't help the Rainmen, but will it help the Mill Rats and push them closer to the top spot?
Thursday nights game is at Harbour Station in Saint John's with a 7 p.m. tip-off.
