Game day Recap: December 26th


Island Storm vs. Moncton Miracles


The Island Storm pulled out a win over the Moncton Miracles in a holiday matinée, winning 117-114, ending the Miracles three-game win streak, including December 20th's win over the Storm, 118-104.

The Moncton Miracles were fast out of the gate and put up points early in the game, leading 4-0. The Miracles led all three-quarters over the Storm and capitalized on fast breaks and open shooters. 

Daquan Brooks hit three buzzers beaters and notched 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Troy Brewer led the way for the Miracles with 21 points and 3 rebounds. Shawn Vanzant, Dwayne Smith, and Tramar Sutherland each pitched in 14 points.

Brandon Robinson slammed down 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Mike Martin and Rashad Whack each added 16 points on the night.

The Miracles fall to 5-9 on the season, while the Storm improve to 8-6. The Miracles have the rest of this year off and will play the Saint John Mill Rats on January 1st at Harbour Station. Tip-off time is 7 p.m. The Island Storm gear up to take on the Saint John Mill Rats in a New Year's Eve battle on December 31st. Tip-off time is 7 p.m. 

Halifax Rainmen vs. Saint John Mill Rats



The Rainmen's win streak continues as they beat the Saint John Mill Rats, 112-106 in NBL Canada action. Halifax has won the last three games, two of them against the Mill Rats, earlier this month. The Rainmen also snapped a four-game losing streak at home.

A closely played game throughout the four quarters and the Rainmen rounded out the half with an eight point lead 50-42. The last two quarters, the Mill Rats pushed the Rainmen and kept the game within 2 points late into the fourth. 

Tyrone Watson and Seiya Ando led the Rainmen with 21 points each, and Joey Haywood added 17 on the night. 

Raheem Singleton had an impressive night with 28 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists. Former Miracle, and Storm player, Johnny Mayhane added 17 points, while Eric Crookshank pulled down an impressive 12 rebounds.

The Rainmen improve to 7-5 on the season, while the slumping Mill Rats slip to 4-10.

The Rainmen's next game is on the road against the Saint John Mill Rats. Can the Rainmen make it 4-0 against the Mill Rats? Tip-off time is 7 p.m. tomorrow night in Harbour Station.
