Halifax vs. Saint John
Halifax rained on the Mill Rats home court in NBL action Thursday night, winning a dominant game, 102-124.
The Mill Rats fell short offensively when it came to rebounds, being out rebounded by the Rainmen, 27-48, along with a lack of a second line of defense, and too many open-three pointers from the Rainmen.
The Rainmen led all four quarters and came out the gate strong with an eight-point run and continued to rack up the points in the first quarter, leading the Mill Rats with an eight point lead at the end of the first. The Rainmen's domination continued in the second quarter, slamming down 31 points and pushing themselves into a 14 point lead, ending the second quarter, 47-61.
Julian King had very short break to get his men back in line and catch-up with the Rainmen, the Mill Rats did close the lead within seven (73-80), but it was no match for the explosive offense of the Rainmen and the third quarter would end 73-91 in favor of the Rainmen.
The Rainmen notched another 33 points in the fourth quarter and improve to 4-3 on the season, while the Mill Rats fall to 4-6.
Some big numbers on the night, Anthony Anderson added 31 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Kenny Jones had an impressive night for the Mill Rats with 28 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Rainmen's Justin Tubbs added a double-double on the night with 26 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Emmanuel Jones pitched in 26 points, and 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
The rivalry will continue as the Rainmen head back to Saint John's for a rematch on Thursday, December 11th. Tip-off time is 7 p.m.
