The Week That Was - Jan. 25

TOP STORIES

Lightning Roll Their Way To Six Game Win Streak

The London Lightning seem to be pulling away, even at this early juncture, from their competition in the Central Conference, thanks to a six-game winning streak. With a record of 9-2, they have a rather shocking lead over the Windsor Express, who sit at at 6-6.

One of the keys to the Lightning's recent success has been the return of Nick Okorie, who has taken the team's offence to the next level since his return to the line-up. His addition, along with the play of young stars Tyshawn Patterson and Stephen Maxwell, has helped the Lightning average 110 points per game during the streak.

The streak looked primed to end on Saturday, with the Lightning finding themselves down 86-84 with 2.8 seconds left. However Lady Luck was on London's side. Okorie collected the inbound, took a step back, and shot a contested fade-away three that found net, giving the Lightning an unlikely 87-86 victory to keep the streak alive.

London will be tested this upcoming week. They play Niagara, a team that has beaten London before, on the road, and will face Eastern teams for the first time when the Miracles and the Storm travel to London. While those teams aren't sporting great records, Windsor struggled against them, and it isn't really known how well the Central and Atlantic teams match-up.
